Affiliate Marketing Commission Criterion – Who To Choose?

When thinking about becoming an affiliate marketer there is some basic knowledge required in making the decision process when searching for a product and/or company to endorse. Most of it is simple, while some of it can become a bit complicated.

Here’s what I learned today.

When thinking about becoming an affiliate marketer there is some basic knowledge required in making the decision process when searching for a product and/or company to endorse. Most of it is simple, while some of it can become a bit complicated. Note how I will use affiliate marketing and internet marketing interchangably.

When a sista is working as an affiliate marketer they need to establish a criteria. By criteria, I mean that a sista has to decide what exactly they are looking for in terms of commission from a company. Questions to ask yourself:

  • Do I want to be paid my affiliate marketing commissions weekly, bi-weekly or montly?
  • Do I want to my affiliate commissions to be in check form?
  • Do I want to earn a little bit of money – say 50% of a $20 product or am I looking to go high end and earn a few hundred bucks per affiliate sale?
  • Would I or have I used that that I am endorsing? (Be honest.)
  • Would I recommend this affiliate product to my friends and family? If not, should I really be endorsing it? Do I even care?
  • Do I even care when, where or how the dough comes in – just as long as it comes?

No two companies are alike. When establishing your criteria, it is a good idea to be selective. I mean, you are the one busting a sweat for the dime.

Internet Marketers

Some things to keep in mind. Some companies when establishing your criteria:

  1. offer recurring income.
  2. offer two-tier affiliate commissions.
  3. offer a one-time commission.
  4. will pay you for a lead.
  5. will track your visitor for a lifetime.
  6. will track your visitor for only 7, 14, 30 or 60 days.
  7. will take your lead and not pay you for it :_)

Let’s face it girls. We can go and select the first affiliate program we see. Or, we can do what we do so darn well, analyze and assess. That’s right. You know i’m telling the truth.

I went shopping the yesterday. I spent about 2 1/2 hours in macy’s digging and scruffing through the clearance racks, trying on and trying off all sorts of fabulous wears. Here’s a glimpse into my thought process during my tenure – “A black blazer (I need this for work), a sequin top (got a wedding to go to next month), a hot red miniskirt (gotta get shoes to match this).”

After all that time spent running back and forth to those cute little price checkers and dressing rooms, I decided that I didn’t want any of it. Why? Because that is what I do best. PERIOD. I’m a sista. Need you know more.

All of that was said to teach you what I learned about making the decision to work as an affiliate marketer and earn affiliate commissions. Let me repeat. A sista has to establish a criteria. You have to be selective in your choice of companies and/or products to promote – Just as you are selective about which shoes to wear with that black dress.

Once that criteria is established, it will be a lot simpler for you to scan a company’s profile, eyeball the commission rate and payout time and make a decision on whether or not to work at promoting that particular product and/or service. Uhmmm.

Here’s a short list of affiliate programs from which a sista can choose:

What The Heck Is A Keyword

Okay ladies, I’ve been asked the question: what is a keyword? Here’s your short answer:

A keyword is a word or phrase that people use when searching for something in particular. Here’s an example:

A person turns on the computer because they need to find out where they can get the latest greatest Gucci bag. They absolutely have to have it. They saw the bag on “Sex In The City” last night. So they fire up google and enter the word “Gucci bag.” That word is the keyword. It’s what we want more information on.

WE HAVE TO HAVE IT!

Okay, so google or yahoo provides us a list of websites that have that word optimized on their page and the search continues. Ohhh Boy! Now what? After clicking several of the links on the results page, we can’t find the damn bag. What do we do next?

We shoot back over to google and enter this entire phrase “Gucci bag + Sex in the City.” That entire phrase is considered a keyword. You may have also heard the phrase “long tail keywords.” In a nutshell, that’s exactly what you’ve got there. A long phrase that we searched for.

What do you suppose your favorite search engine will do? It will search the entire web world for for sites that have those phrases on the same page. When your lists of sites arrive, you should most certainly have found the bag. If you didn’t, then write to your local congressman and let them know because that would be a darn shame 🙂

I hope this helps.

Alice Seba Has Totally Lost It!

Alice Seba Has Gone Bananas!

If you don’t know Alice Seba, she is one of the most generous people you’ll ever meet and she has built a profitable business around the principle of giving and being nice to people. However, to give this comprehensive internet marketing course for free really surprised me (especially since I paid my good money for it some time ago 🙂

Alice Seba is one of my favorite internet marketing woman and dubbed the “Internet Marketing Sweetie.”

Here’s the skinny on what she’s doing:

Alice Seba

Alice Seba is suggesting that the cut-throat internet marketing we are so used to does not have to exist in your world. She also suggests that we can make money online without being a nasty and mean. One wouldn’t think so.

However, in an effort to, shall we say, level the internet marketing field, she’s decided to give away her Internet Marketing Sweetie Course!

Internet Marketing Sweetie is a free course that teaches people, just like you and me, to get ahead in the cutthroat world of online business – all by being nice to people. This isn’t just some flimsy e-book. This course includes audio, transcripts, workbooks and step-by-step instructions to:

  • Allow you to help as many people at a time as possible…and increase your profits at the same time.
  • Generate plenty of great content that your website visitors want and search engines will send free traffic to.
  • Building a responsive list that really likes to buy from you.
  • How freebie seekers can actually HELP your business.
  • How to build your network to connect with people you’ve been dying to meet.…and of course, there’s plenty more.

Let’s face it. A lot of women struggling to build an online business think they have to learn how to figure out search engine algorithms, create extensive pay-per-click campaigns and write hard-hitting sales copy before they’ll start making any money. In other words, they THINK they have to learn and do a bunch of technical stuff before they can find success.

Well, those are all good tools to build your online businesses, but my sister-friend, Alice Seba, has been using another tool to build hers and she’s sharing her very best strategies…at no charge.

Enough rambling. Go now and download Alice Seba’s Internet Marketing Sweetie Course now and read it with your favorite cup of whatever it is you drink. Then, most importantly, take some action to get your desired results. Sisters, YOU CAN MAKE MONEY ONLINE!

Remember to share your struggles and successes… I promise to seek out the answers for you from the best internet marketing women online…

Create Impact And Save Lives

Want to know what happened as a result of my going to the Impact Event in Philly?

They say that going to live events is where it’s at! I concur.

Ken McArthur, suddenly thrust me into a team of action takers. This is something very special and you can be a part of it too.

I have joined forces with Ken McArthur, and a host of other great folks (*Ken and Frank Sousa, two gentle kind children of God there in the picture with me) to reach out and save the lives of teens who are committing suicide at the rate of 3 per 60 seconds.

Ken has inspired an entire team of individuals, including myself, to reach millions of people and create an awareness like never before.

Whether you know someone that has been affected by suicide or not, you can be a part of this life-changing event by spreading the word! Help us to stop suicide amongst teens. Spread the word, post your stories and resources. Let’s talk about it! Let’s be about it!

All women with teenage children should be involved. One of my college professors once told me “If you don’t have something to stand for, you’ll fall for anything.” Don’t just sit there! Create some IMPACT! Join the mission!

Internet Gurus And Why I Never Believe Them

I posted yesterday about how Jack Humphrey of Authority Site Center fame recommended that if you used the review (comparing products) model for affiliate marketing you should only link to your number one product. I have always compared the leading 3 or 4 products and rank them in order but have affiliate links to them all where possible. Jack says to compare them but only link to your number 1 recommendation. He says my way offers the visitor too many choices and in the end this leads to indecision and nothing gets clicked.

This got me wondering if I had stopped buying from the guru’s because they had caused me indecision by sharing their ..
